2022 Book of the Year!

DRUMROLL PLEASE! QBD Books has announced their 2022 Book of the Year!

“A Girl Called Corpse” by Reece Carter...

With a body made of wax, seaweed for hair and polished abalone shells for eyes, Corpse is bound to haunt the Witches' sea shack forever. She has no memory of her name or who she was before. That is until a ghost gives her a message; a treasure exists that can reunite Corpse with her family and her actual name.

Goulishly charming, A Girl Called Corpse is a hopeful adventure story about friendship, belonging and bravery. A debut novel by Australian author Reece Carter, it is an utterly original tale that is fully immersive, told with a full heart and is one that will remain with the reader for years to come.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR Reece’s love for stories — especially those filled with whimsy, magic, and a little bit of weirdness — began as a child growing up in rural Western Australia. There was an unfortunate lack of witches and ghosts on his family farm, and so Reece had to find them in books instead.

Reece now lives in Sydney. When not reading or writing, he can usually be found talking to his dog, Hagrid, and hoping that one of these days Hagrid might decide to talk back.
